After making some minor adjustments to the solution in the last two days, a beta version has now been released for the client to test. In the next weeks, this test will be carried out by NCRST, during this time the GIPE – project will be in the summer break!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped to make this project what it has become, a real international and intercultural cooperation across continents and time zones.
Today we had the final meeting of our project, together with our client we reviewed the last months and agreed that we could accomplish a lot, especially considering that we could not organize a “Spring School” at the beginning.
Nevertheless, a sworn community and a steadily growing team spirit formed, and we worked on the solution with motivation until the very end. That we got this was mainly because many students were willing to get involved with the technology stack and to go the extra mile.
Everyone involved can be proud of what was achieved here under unexpected difficult conditions due to COVID19.
Yesterday we had to pass a significant milestone in our project. For the first time, we were able to present our solution live to our client on a “real” web server and show him the different functions in the status we have realized so far.
The client’s feedback was very good, we could – as it seemed – positively surprise and impress him.
Of course, there are still some minor bugs to be fixed and not all features are fully implemented yet, but we are confident that we will be able to manage and improve a lot in the remaining days.
Therefore, we will continue to work on the solution at full speed, the students are still fully motivated. This is all the more remarkable considering the fact that unfortunately we still cannot say if and when it will be possible for our scholarship holders to carry out their mobilities due to the Corona Pandemic.
We are still confident that we will be able to find a possibility here, but we must wait and see how things develop in the respective countries…
Once again, several days of hard work lie behind the teams and more and more functions can be admired in the solution. It is really remarkable that the students are not just trying to meet the client’s requirements in some way, but they are constantly looking for attractive solutions that make the application more valuable overall.
Since we don’t want to stop this process, we have agreed with the teams and our client to postpone the handover date and we will use the remaining time intensively to continue working on the components of the portal.
